North West Club members have had an enjoyable start to 2010 both at Carlisle and Chelford


Border British Blue Calf Show – February 18th 2010

The Hartley family had a few of their new stock bull Greystone Bonzer’s calves out at the show for the first time.

Isabella once again took the Young Handlers Class leading Pendle Ella, a 10 months old heifer out of Pendle Appenzel. Pendle Elo an eight months old bull out of Pendle Witch acquitted himself very well when he achieved second in his class with Thomas on the lead rope.

Thomas, leading Pendle E By Gum, a 7 months old Blue Stone Union Jack daughter out of Pendle Trixy, came third in the Young Handlers class but E By Gum had previously won her youngest heifer class.

Bringlee Herd Production Sale – February 19th

Graham Brindley once more produced a spectacular show of British Blue youngstock in his second production sale.

Leading the way Bringlee Desiree a 14 months old Sjaka Zoeloe Van Zwaanhof daughter out of the renowned Bringlee Sandy achieved the top price of the sale at 13,000gns not far behind was her full sister Bringlee Dorinda knocked down at 9,000gns.

10 months old Bringlee Estelle a Graphite De Dessous La Ville daughter again out of Bringlee Sandy sold to 8,500gns and her full sister Bringlee Evadine sold to 5,000gns.

Bringlee Electra at 13 months old had already proved herself in the show ring winning the Champion Interbreed Baby Beef Calf at Nantwich show in July 2009. Selling for 6,500gns, this Bringlee Blackstar daughter out of Cerise Neuve Cour looks set to have a great show career in front of her.

Bringlee Eesandy a 9 months old daughter of Gamin Des 3 Frontieres out of Bringlee Sandy sold for 6,200gns and is already showing great potential for the 2010 show season.

Of Boomer Birch’s guest consignment, 17 months old Boomer Destiny a Bringlee Waldo daughter out of Gregmaur Abba sold at the highest price for the herd at 6,200gns. Having been out in the show ring at the North West’s calf show last June where she was reserve female champion, she also looks like one to watch for in the coming show season.

Chelford Show & Sale - March 5th & 6th

The North West Club members supported the show and sale with no less than 31 cattle forward and were well rewarded with many of the top prices of the day.

Top club price of the day went to Mark Hambleton with his 27 month old bull Holirow Cannonball, a Cajoleur De Rettigny son out of Widewath Voluptuous he sold for 6,300gns. Mark also sold home bred Clayfields Domino a 23 months old son of Blak Du Baty D’Eprave out of Donnah Tango Excel at 5,600gns.

New Close Dictator from the Wilson family was judged Overall Champion of the show and this 22 months old son of Gitan Du P’Tit Mayeur out of Bringlee Tandy (a Sandy daughter) was knocked down for 5,800gns.

Following closely on the price list came Mark & Elaine Hartley’s Pendle Desert Storm a Blue Stone Union Jack son out of Pendle Vonnie who sold for 5,000gns at 22 months old. The Pendle herd also offered two further Union Jack sons, Pendle Domino and Pendle Dynamo, 22 months old full brothers out of Pendle Tatum. Domino selling for 4,600gns and Dynamo for 4,200gns.

Jane & Danny Wyllie brought along a bull and three heifers from their Tamhorn herd. Tamhorn Dodo a 24 months old son of Empire D’Ochain out of Annanwater Vine sold for 3,300gns, three Ballygrange Alex’s daughters also appealed to many and after spirited bidding, Tamhorn Elisha out of Tamhorn Wisteria and Tamhorn Elma out of Tamhorn Wilma, both 13 months old, sold for 2,000gns and 3,450gns respectively. However, Tamhorn Ember an almost totally black 12 months old daughter out of Tamhorn Wee Daisy attracted all the attention and was finally knocked down for 4,900gns.

Graham Coates brought along four bulls and 22 months old Greystone Diplomat, by Greystone Atomic out of Greystone Lucky topped the herd’s prices with 4,600gns closely followed by Greystone Warrior’s son 21 months old Greystone Diesel this time out of Greystone Tweed who sold for 4,400gns. Two further 21 month old bulls, Greystone Warrior’s son, Greystone Denman out of Greystone Star sold for 3,100gns and Greystone Atomic’s son, Greystone Domino out of Greystone Magnolia sold for 2,700gns.

Graham Brindley also supported the sale with two bulls, 17 months old Bringlee Dragon Fly by Empire D’Ochain out of Cowden Bounty was knocked down for 4,400gns and 16 months old Bringlee Dougie by Raciste Du Pachis A Motte out of Bringlee Valda sold for 3,400gns.

Tim Mountford sold a 23 months old Tamhorn Sumo son, Hartley Diamond out of Hartley Annabelle for 4,100gns and 18 months old Hartley Dora a Flash D’Izier daughter out of Betws Wispa for 3,000gns.

Alan Bromyard sold two bulls from his Inishfree herd, Inishfree Devon an Empire D’Ochain son out of Inishfree White O Morn for 4,100gns and Inishfree Danaher an Alambic De Baillonville son out of Navac Remy, sold for 3,250gns

The Belfield family brought along four of their Boothlow herd, two 15 months old Affute Du Rossogne daughters, full sisters out of Boothlow Tina, Boothlow Dollar selling for 4,100gns and Boothlow Debbie selling for 3,000gns. 22 months old Boothlow Dandy, a Gaillard son out of Boothlow Vicky who also sold for 3,000gns and a 15 months old Empire D’Ochain daughter out of Boothlow Venice, Boothlow Davina fetching 1,800gns.

Derek & Maureen Gregory sold their 30 months old bull Gregmaur Coster a Raciste Du Pachis a La Motte son out of Gregmaur Rhodes for 3,800gns.

Having been awarded the Reserve Female Championship the previous day the Jones family’s Graymar Diva an 18 months old daughter of Flash D’Izier out of Betws Wispa went on to sell for 2,700gns.

Allan & Deirdre Wilkinson sold a bull and four females. 22 months old Springfield Darron an Ingenieux Du Stordeur son out of Springfield Vicieuse achieved 2,350gns. Two Springfield Pepsi daughters followed with 5 years old Springfield Annie by Dafydd D’Ochain and Pd’d in calf selling for 2,200gns and 6 years old Stalmine Moss Winnie by Tamhorn Sumo also Pd’d in calf selling for 2,100gns. Another Dafydd D’Ochain daughter out of the famous Ovatie Van De Wolvendree sold for 2,000gns at 5 years of age. Springfield Ellie a 13 months old heifer daughter of Blak Du Baty D’Eprave out of Springfield April was knocked down at 2,100gns
