Blues Swept Away At Dungannon
Top at 4700gns with a Virtual Full Clear Out
There was a tremendous buzz at Dungannon Farmers Mart, on Saturday
28th March 2009, for the largest number of British Blues ever presented
for sale by the Northern Ireland Blue Cattle Club; 52 of the 56 animals
forward were sold, resulting in a 93% clear out. Vendors were well
pleased with 32 bulls averaging £3000 and 20 females averaging £2220.75.
Annaghone Charm exhibited by Norman Hammond, Stewartstown was the
Supreme Champion. Norman is pictured receiving a presentation from
Tommy Armstrong, Provita while looking on is David Pearson, Co Laois,
Judge of the Event.

Judge, David Pearson from Portlaoise, in the Republic, put up ‘Annaghone
Charm’, out of Annaghone Winnie by ‘Blak Du Baty D’Eprave’.from
the Norman Hammond stable, as his Female and overall Supreme champion,
subsequently finding a new home with Joe Doyle, Kilkeel for 4200gns.
Champion Male and overall Reserve Champion going to Basil Doughery’s,
Greenfield Amazon, out of ‘Greenfield Lady’ by ‘Blak
Du Baty D’Eprave’.
‘Mountjoy Cannon’, out of ‘Mountjoy Willow’ by ‘Gitan
Du P’Tit Mayeur’, headed up the Bulls with a leading price
of the day, 4700gns being sold to Alan Hawkes, Co Tyrone. Simon Loughery
followed closely behind with ‘Littlederry Challenger’ going
South to Liz McEnery on Co Kerry.
On the females, ‘Annaghone Charm’, topped at 4200gns, as
mentioned above, with Richard Mowbray’s ‘Droit Candy’,
out of Annonwater Verona, by ‘Gitan Du P’Tit Mayeur’ coming
up behind at 3100gns finding a home with J. Collins at Ballymoney.
Society Secretary, John Fleming commented, ‘Vendors were well
pleased with a steady even trade and good overall average, with demand
for quality being very evident on the day. The interest in the ‘British
Type’ of Blue from the South was very encouraging and the Society
and Northern Ireland Club are indebted to those buyers for their support.’
