All Records Broken In Cull Cow Section at Brecon Market

A British Blue cow from Mr M & M Hughes of Penrhyn Farm broke all records both regionally and Nationally on Friday 24th June by making £2020 and 240.5p/kg while another cows from the same holding weighed 745kg and made £1630.

The market had a full capacity of buyers plus two new men from Northern England and Sheffield, who were keen for well fleshed and well bred cows, The Auctioneer Chris Jones commented ‘Brecon has a reputation for first class stores and so cow buyers are aware those best export type cows should also be available and therefore they are starting to attend on a regular basis from great distances’.

This resulted in strong competition and a record breaking average of £936/head with 24 cows in excess of £1000 with an overall average of 153p/kg which would also be an all time record.

The next sale is on Friday 29th July and cows will be listed in the catalogue.
