New Record Set at Market Drayton Market For A British Blue Barren Cow
A fantastic 87 month old barren pedigree British Blue cow tipped the scales at 998 kilos to realise a remarkable £2,355.28, a final call of 236 pence per kilo. The gavel falling in favour of Mr Ed Nield buying on behalf of an export firm. The cow was shown by Mr Danny Wyllie of Tamworth and he also sold a further pedigree British Blue to 217p (£2,035.46). The British Blues are the dearest barren cows sold through Market Drayton Market since the introduction of Over Thirty Month Cattle into the food chain in November 2005. The dedicated barren cow and over thirty month evening sale saw 229 cattle go through the ring at Market Drayton and levelled an average of 126.15p.
