The ‘WINTER BLUES’ Annual Show & Sale of British Blue Sired CalvesThe 2nd Annual Show & Sale of ‘Winter Blues’ at Bentham and District Farmers Auction Mart saw an outstanding entry of 122, of which 64 were British Blue x. With an age limit of 49 days for the show, several calves were too old for judging.
Congratulations to regular consignor of quality calves, Carol Parker, Clapham whose 30 day old British Blue Heifer, out of a Friesian cow took the Championship and later sold for £410 to JG Eddleston, Rishton. John Airey, Eldroth topped the sale with a 10 week old British Blue Bull, reared on the cow making £465 to Colin Baxter, Garforth. Closely followed by a consignment of British Blue’s from Paul Burrow, Kirkby Lonsdale, whose bulls made £455, £440 & £340 and heifers made £430 & £390. A total of 16 exceeded the £360
mark. Many thanks to Robert Heigh for judging and to the British Blue Society
