Border British Blue Club Eighteenth Annual Open Calf Show

The Border British Blue Club staged their eighteenth annual open calf show on Friday 27th January 2017 at Borderway Mart, Carlisle when nearly all of the 24 catalogued entries were forward for judging. This was made up of 11 males and 13 females all UK born pedigree registered calves born on or after 1st January 2016.

(Feeds) for the Perpetual Shield awarded to the champion calf and Norbreck Genetics for the Perpetual Shield for the winner of the young handler class.

The Judge Garry Patterson, Aultmore Herd had the very difficult task of judging the calves.

The male and overall championship was awarded to Ian McGarva with Abington Lionel a January 2016 son of Corrandulla Finton ET and out of Abington Harriet.

Ian also took the female and reserve overall championship with Abington Liquorice an April 2016 daughter of Lennie Van Het Caloenhof (IS) and out of Lukeroyal Guess ET. Liquorice went on to take reserve female champion in the Society Show and sold for 4,200gns.

Stonebyres Levi

Blair & Shona Comrie, took the reserve male championship with a strong Kersey Geronimo ET son, Stonebyres Levi a February 2016 bull out of Tamhorn Goodtimegirl ET.

The reserve female championship was awarded to Dylan Townend with Clifftown Ladyluck ET a January 2016 calf out of the Tweeddale Ebony (SR) ET and Jobarde de Fooz ET flush.

Mel & Diane Lucas won the Progeny group with two Droit Ebenezer ET calves. Lukeroyal Luther ET (3rd in his class) and Lukeroyal Lydia ET (3rd in her class).

15 year old Ross Comrie clinched the Norbreck Perpetual Trophy, followed by Joe Pattinson (11) in second place.
